Happy Thanksgiving, Woo Hoo 100 Followers, BLOG CANDY COMING UP & Wall Frames

Happy Thanksgiving!!  WOW, my blog has hit 100 followers!!  THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I love all the comments and seeing the beautiful things you create with some of the files I post.  Thanks for the inspiration!  Next week, watch for my first blog candy give away to celebrate all the things I am thankful for, including 100 followers.

I love this file.  I got the idea from this etsy posting and made my own version.  My tack is part of the file itself.  I think the Etsy listing provides the tack separate.  Anyway, this would make a great wall diplay with several frames, a nice heading on top and some photos attached with two-sided tape.  You can dowload the file here.  Have a great Thankgiving!!

Christmas Ornaments

I am making a whole set of these with all my family members names.  So far so good.  Thanks to debodel for the idea.  See her ornaments here.
Thanks for looking!!

Ornament Set

Here is a set of ornaments I made today.  They are all built around one of the two base ornaments that are the third from the left on both the top and bottom.  You can make your own starting with either base and inserting whatever you would like in the middle, including text.  It is just that easy!!
If you like the file you can find the full set here.

Candy Cane

Here is a great holiday file.  There are so many things you can do with this one.  Here is an example of how I personalized it with my daughter's name. I may make some of these with countdown numbers out of removable vinyl and make a Christmas countdown, removing one every day.

If you would like the generic file, you can download it here.

Let It Snow (somewhere else)

Here is a fun SVG.  I used "beefed up" Inspiration for Let it Snow and "beefed up" Georgia for Somewhere Else.
The larger snowflakes on the far left and the far right are Heather's.  She has some great files.  You can grab the snowflakes here and here.  You can download my file below, less Heather's snowflakes.  The smaller snowflakes are from the SCAL shapes library!!

Download the file here if you like it!!

Lets Wordle!!

Here is super cool web site for you.  I first learned of it from Leslie.  She has the greatest ideas and shares them all so willingly.  Find her blog here.

Here is her post about Wordle.  I saw the awesome cards she made and played with Wordle a bit and loved it.  However, I am neither a cardmaker nor a papercrafter so I was at a loss as to what I could do with this cool site.  I figured it out.  I made an SVG to cut in vinyl for my office.  Now that I figured it out, I will be making many more Wordles to cut from vinyl.  It's not exactly rocket science, but since I am so pleased with myself *wink* let me try to tell you how I did it.
1.  Go to http://www.wordle.net/. Click on Create your own.
2.  Follow the directions to make your own super cool word collage.  Type all your words in with a hard return after each word.  You can type in up to 150 words.  (Although if you are going to cut them I would keep it below 30 words so they do not get too small.)  If you want a word(s) bigger than the others, type it in twice!!  Once you type them all in hit GO.  Arrange them however you would like under the layout menu.  Choose a "chunky" font from the font menu.  Under color choose black and white.
3.  Once you have completed your Wordle and laid it out the way you like it, hit the print screen button on your computer.  Open up a photo editing software or Microsoft Paint.  Hit control V (paste).  This will paste your screen shot in your window.  Crop the pasted screen image so you only have your Wordle left.  Save it as a jpg file.
4.  Open up the jpg SCAL, choose trace image from the file menu.  Select the browse button and select the jpg of your saved Wordle.  If you made it black and white a brightness setting of 50 should do a good job of tracing it.  Hit Ok.  This is what my traced Wordle looked like in preview mode of scal.  Pretty cool huh??
5.  Then I added a double rectangle around it and put the bow on top from this blog post.  I am going to cut it as a wall vinyl to add to the holiday decor in my office.  (These are the names of my coworkers.)  I plan on adding snowflakes to the open areas, cutting the names in silver and gold with silver and gold snowflakes, a black box and a red bow.  It will be on a dark plum colored wall.  I'll likely cut the bow on a seperate mat and layer it on top so I can make it bigger.  I'll take a picture when I cut it.  But for now, I just had to show you my use for Wordle!!
Thanks for looking.  Happy Wordling!!

Plastic Buckets for Wine, Ice or Cookies

I love these buckets. Three quart plastic buckets with lids. I can see them keeping a bottle of wine cold, chilling a dip, or keeping a batch of yummy treats fresh on a shelf in your pantry with their snap on lid!! They are pretty cute too. I like these for filling with holiday treats!!

The font on the Blue and Orange ones is Mr. Giggles, Jester for the words "Seasoned with Love" and the text next to the kiss is Art brush. The kiss is from Penny Duncan's website, find that file here (the svg is the third file down) and all of her other amazing creations. The martini file on the blue one can be downloaded here.

Thanks for looking!!

Cookies for Santa

I made several plates tonight with this design. I added some polka dots in addition to the snowflakes. I'll post pics later. If you like it, you can find the SVG here. The font is Mr. Giggles. I cut the letters and snowflakes separate. Break apart the svg and cut the snowflakes in different colors if you like. You don't want to cut the two snowflakes on the lower left smaller than 1".
EDITED: 11/9/10 to add phot of project.

WAHOOOOO

I got my first blog award today!! It is even an award with attitude!! Doing the happy dance. Thanks so much to Kim over at Creative Bling for giving me this award!! I so appreciate her creativity and willingness to share her talent!! Check out her blog here. She has some great projects, inspiration, tips and files to share. If you haven't been there, you are missing out!!

In order to accept the award I have to tell you three things that make me and/or my blog different from others and then nominate 5 other blogs to receive this 'tude filled award.

There are so many great bloggers out there with 'tude, I want to pick them all. But I am all about following rules, so stay tuned, the dirty details are coming tomorrow when I edit this post to ID my top 5 and reveal my three things!!

11/5/10 edit

So the five bloggers I am passing this award on to are, in no particular Order:

1.)Yolie over at Just Yolie, Just Create She is so giving of her talent and inspiring to many.
2.)Carrie over at Dittle Dattle. She is always coming up with something new and the next idea is more amazing than the one before!
3. )Denise over at Denises Scrapbooking Room. She is so giving of her files and talent. She has the greatest files and shares them willingly; and she seems like alot of Fun!!
4.)Papa Sue over at My Adventures with Cricut, SCAL and Inkscape. She is she willing to help and to teach and as she says on her blog "teach you to fish."
5.) Aymee over at A Southernbelle's SVG's. Aymee has made some of my very favorite files in the whole world!!
Thank you all for your inspiration and willingness to share your talent.

The last thing, the things different about me and/or my blog are:
1.) I like seeing what others make with my files as much or more than I like making my own creations, I love the feedback from comments left on my blog and get so much out of reading each one of them, so THANK YOU for that!!
2.) I try to include links to files and font types in every single posting so replication is easier. (Imitation is the highest form of flattery after all) LOL!!
3.) I am so blessed and so thankful for the best family and friends in the world. Not sure how I got so lucky, but I am gonna just go with it!!

Thanks again Kim, you rock

TADA!!

Hubby's windshield is complete!! Here is the final product. He is happy! Turned out pretty good!!

If you want to know even more details (and can handle 2 minutes and 13 seconds of rap music) he posted a video here that showed all the steps we took!!

Now all he needs is snow!!

Thanks for looking!!

A Card for Bradley

There is a very brave three year-old boy fighting a brain tumor in Indiana. Stacy at Love that Bug is asking you creative folks to make him a card or drop him a note so he and his family know they are not alone. You can get all the details, including Bradley's address by seeing Stacy's blog posting here. But beware, his story will break your heart!!

I am going to do it, and I am terrible at making cards!! Anyway, if I can do it, so can you.
It is a good time of year to remember we need to count our blessings and be thankful for the health and happiness of those we love.

The Hubby Meets Vinyl!!

My husband decided he wanted something a little different for his snowmobile. He found a file online that he really liked and asked if I could cut it in vinyl. Well I traced it in SCAL, tweaked it a bit, cut it, weeded it and this is what we ended up with.

Then we applied it to the inside of his windshield.
He taped it up and will spraypaint a layer or two of blue on the inside of the windshield and finish up with a layer of silver to give it a nice clean look.
I will post a picture of the final product when he is done. I figure it will take a few days to get the paint on and let it dry throughly.

We practiced on a clear acrylic circle blank with the Yamaha logo. I guess you could say we made a Yamaha Christmas decoration!! We flipped the design and put it on the back of the clear circle. The hubby painted two layers of blue and finished it off with a layer of silver. Looks pretty good, huh??
Here is what the back looks like.
Check back in a few days to see the finished windshield!!
Thanks for looking!!

Welcome!!

Here are a few SVG's I created. I think these will look nice in an entryway or the smaller files on a front door; maybe even a floating frame.
I hope you find a use for them.
