Eat, Sleep, . . .

I had some requests for the files I used for the heat transfer tshirt I made for my daughter. Eat, Sleep, Soccer. I actually have two versions of it. One is the shirt pictured below. The other was a gift for a high school graduate going to college for physics. Hence: the Eat, Sleep, Physics. The great thing about this design is it will work for anything, just change the last box. If you want to use the same font, I used a font called Banhaus 93. Here are the svg files:

If you are cutting them in heat transfer vinyl, don't forget to flip them first!

My First Oversized Vinyl Project

Lessons learned on my first over-sized vinyl project. When I say over-sized, I am not talking truck trailer size or anything. No, just larger than the 12 x 24 mat. Well I did it, although I had a couple bumps in the road; actually more like one huge pothole!! But I'll get to that in a minute. Well, here is the final look. My mom decorated her husband's bathroom as a surprise when he was in Sturgis a few weeks ago for the motorcycle rally. Finished size is about 35" x 19." The font is MS Segue. The swirls are from SCAL and the Harley Logo is an SVG. Before loading up my contribution to the newly redecorated bathroom and taking it to mom's house, I pieced it together on my patio door.
I learned a couple valuable lessons while doing this project. First, reference marks are gold. I used diamonds in order to line up the different sections of the picture. Totally great. It went together like a dream. Now the pothole. I learned that the wet method for applying vinyl does not work so good with 631 vinyl on a wall. Fortunately, I also learned that if your wet method application goes bad, a blow dryer will cure all evil, aka, dry it up (the vinyl and the wall) so you can start all over again. No harm no foul!!

Finally, the mouse hole on the trim is my own little touch. I forgot to mention his bathroom is also the laundry room, hence the clothes line with the motorcycle parked outside. This is an SVG file. I am not going to post it here as it is not my design (I added the motorcycle.) But, you can find a photo of the mouse hole here (traceable in SCAL): http://www.hu2.com/store/living-room/mickey-pack.html and a TON more inspiration at the site. You have to go check out the great designs they have!!

I Love Heat Transfer Vinyl

If you have never tried heat transfer vinyl, get some. Coolest stuff ever and soooo much fun. Here are a couple of shirts I made with it. Oh the options are endless. The black one was for my four-year old niece who came to town this summer from South Lake Tahoe and loves to go fishing in Minnesota with "fishing grandma and grandpa." This one is priceless. The other one I made for my nine-year old daughter, my soccer player.

My First Thanksgiving File

I think I have all the Halloween files I need. There are so many awesome fall files out there I think I will move right on to Thanksgiving. Here is a Thanksgiving cornucopia to start off my Thanksgiving files. It is a great looking file, but a lot of weeding!!
Download the SVG here
Check back for more Thanksgiving files!!

Why Not Use the Positive and the Negative?

I did this project as a cute wall vinyl for a friend who recently had a baby. I had planned on giving them the one with the inside of the circle solid brown with the cut out of the "A" and the name. As I was weeding it occurred to me that i should save the weeded out portions as it would make a very cute "bonus." I was right. I keep extra pieces of the vinyl backing handy just in case I weed out designs I want to save for later.

The font is Walt Disney Script, available for free download here:http://i-love-disney.com/downloads/disney-cartoon-fonts/
I used Oracal 631 vinyl in brown. Next time you are weeding a design, make sure to check and make sure you aren't weeding out anything you can use later!!

A Good Time Was Had By All!

Find part one of the dinner party here: http://michellesdigitalcreations.blogspot.com/2010/08/italian-feast.html
The dinner party was a raging success!! All were surprised when they arrived and did not smell anything cooking. One of my friends said, "since dinner isn't started yet, I am happy to give you a hand." I smiled and responded "you sure are." Too funny. Everyone had a great time with it. The boys absolutely killed the girls in the trivia contest and had at least double the ingredients the girls did. Turns out the olive oil was the sought after ingredient and the girls got it as they got first pick!!

The girls ended up making breaded stuffed chicken breast over spaghetti noodles in a white sauce. The boys made a delicious sweet pepper red sauce with meatballs over rigatoni noodles. They used a blend of hamburger and Italian sausage in the meatballs that was delicious. It was a tough choice over which was better. All voted at the end of the meal and the girls got all but two of the votes for their chicken. Ironically, both of the votes for the meatballs were cast by the girls!!

A good time was had by all. When you are looking for a fun, different idea for a dinner party, this is definitely something to consider!!

An Italian Feast!

I am home a little early from work today as we are having some friends over for dinner. I have an Italian menu planned, well kind of, and a few surprises for my guests!! There will be 12 of us altogether, six couples. My guests will be very surprised to find out that they are cooking dinner!! It is what I am calling the Battle of the Sexes Dinner Party. Everyone should arrive around 6:00. I will have a few appetizers and some drinks. Then at 6:30 I am dividing them into teams; you guessed it BOYS vs. GIRLS. We will have a trivia challenge where each team has to win their ingredients. There will be about thirty ingredients total on the counter. Once we are done each team will have one hour and fifteen minutes to make something delicious for our dinner. We will all vote on the best dish! While they cook, I will make the salad, and watch, and laugh! Should be a fun time.

Anyway, in the spirit of my dinner party I finally got this picture of a chef converted to a svg. I took a photo of this guy awhile back cuz I thought he was so cute. He was on a serving plate in a clearance bin somewhere, don't remember where. If you like him, you can download the svg here:https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B7OJ0FaKExhLNjVjNDgwMzctMjg0OS00YmUwLThjNmMtYzNmNDlhNTc2MTNh&hl=en

Hand Sanitizers and Hand Soaps, the Perfect Inexpensive Gift!!

For a dollar each at the dollar store and a small amount of vinyl you have the perfect, affordable and personalized gift! I took both the back and the front labels off of these. The front labels come right off. The back labels are not so easy. I stopped taking the back labels off after this project; way too time consuming for me. I cannot mess around with little nit-picky things for any amount of time. I think that is one of the reasons I cannot paper craft; too much patience involved!! I envy those that can; they make such beautiful creations.

These particular ones were made the the girls in my office. Thanks for looking!!

Steaming Coffee

I tweaked a cute cartoon drawing of a cup of coffee to a steaming coffee cup svg file. I would like to cut this, in vinyl of course, for a kitchen wall with a cute coffee saying with it, although witty beats cute in my book anyday!! I saw one the other day on the Cricut Messageboard, to the effect of "Life is too short for bad coffee." And one of my personal favorites "Behind every successful woman is a substantial amount of coffee."

That being said, if you are a fellow caffeine worshipper, you can download the svg here: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B7OJ0FaKExhLMzRiNWMyMjUtZjI2YS00M2U2LWIwOWYtZTYwYTBkMGE4ZTgz&sort=name&layout=list&num=50

Anyone else have any good coffee quotes??

Halloween Files

Halloween is one of my favorite days of the year. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. So much fun for the kids and the kids-at-heart. I picked up some great plastic bowls at Target for $2 each. Some are black and some are white and they are all screaming for vinyl to make them awesome Halloween treat bowls. That is where the boo file comes in below; it will be so cute on those bowls and what fun gifts for my other Halloween loving friends! I will post pics when they are done. In the meantime you can download the boo file here and make some cool items for your Halloween loving friends: http://www.box.net/shared/r9cepuc5byql9zxn9d6v

Soccer Banner

I made this banner for my daughter's travelling soccer team this summer. The girls thought it was the coolest thing ever. The fonts I used for their names is Hobo Becker; I just welded a soccer ball to each name. The other font is called SF Collegiate, both free fonts!! Just click on the picture to get a closer look!!

Thanks for looking.

How about some Animal Prints??

Add Image Animal prints are very in right now. Not very many suppliers carry the animal print vinyl and those that do often find themselves out of stock. Additionally, when you find it, you are limited in colors. Let's just make our own, in any color we want!! Find all the animal prints in SVG format for download here.

A New Tile

I recently made a tile for a good friend of mine (Cami) as a thank you for watching my very high maintenance, pampered puppy for the weekend. She has a beautiful table in her entryway that was screaming for a tile. This is what I came up with.
The birds on the cherry blossum branch is a SCUT2 file from the Craft Edge Forum. It was Robin's first SCUT file and I love it!! See her file and her post here:
The flying birds are Paulo's swirly birds and can be found here:http://scale-files.blogspot.com/2010/03/swirlybirdstrioa-springtime-accent-to.html
As I am sure you know, Paulo has so many beautiful files. If you haven't been to his blog yet, don't click on that link to go there unless you have at least an hour to check it out. You will need every minute!!
My friend loved her tile and I genuinely thank those of you that share your beautiful files so freely!!

It has been too long . . .

Well, it seems I started up a blog a little sooner than I should have. It has been a long, long time. I have taken some time to learn a few tricks, and now I am ready to hop in and share some files and some projects. So let's start out with a cutting file!!

Here is a simple hibiscus cut file that I created from a coloring page. I just love using them as inspiration for great cut files. This is a fun, easy to cut file that is perfect for the end of summer!

This makes a great car window decal cut from vinyl. If you can use another hibiscus in your collection, you can download it here:

Enjoy the last days of summer!!
